Rep. Ansari Hosts DACA Recipient as Guest at Trump’s Address to Joint Session of Congress

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) announced she would host a DACA recipient and high school math teacher from Arizona’s Third District, as her guest for President Donald Trump’s Address to the Joint Session of Congress.

“I am deeply honored to have Yadira Garcia join me as my guest for the Joint Session of Congress. She embodies the American Dream—resilient, hardworking, and committed to her students and community,” said Rep. Ansari. “Since Donald Trump took office, we’ve seen relentless cruel, un-American attacks on immigrant families. I will keep fighting for a permanent solution that not only protects Dreamers but provides a clear path to citizenship. We can secure our borders, be pro-immigration, and build an economy that works for everyone.”

“I am truly grateful to attend the Joint Session of Congress alongside Rep. Ansari and represent Arizona’s Dreamers,” said Yadira Garcia. “Thanks to DACA, the dream of becoming a teacher became a reality for me. Yet, every two years, I find myself wondering what comes next. We’re here now, but it’s crucial that we secure a permanent solution. I’m thankful to Rep. Ansari for being our voice in Congress and fighting for us.”

Last week, Ansari cosponsored the American Dream and Promise Act of 2025 that would provide a pathway to citizenship to Dreamers, undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. It would also include recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) beneficiaries. The legislation has been cosponsored by 201 Members of Congress and has been endorsed by nearly 120 organizations.
