WASHINGTON – Today, following the announcement of a ceasefire deal reached in the Israel-Hamas war, Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) released the following statement:
“This tentative ceasefire agreement is a relief, particularly for the families of the 98 hostages still held in captivity and for Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
“Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack is a day the world will forever remember for its brutality, inhumanity, and the scale of its violence. Over 1,200 Israelis were murdered — Holocaust survivors, women, and children among them — and over 250 people stolen and held as bargaining chips. The world also mourns the significant death toll in Gaza of Palestinian civilian lives and the humanitarian crisis.
“This war on seven fronts has cost far too many lives and led to tremendous devastation for innocent Israelis, Palestinians, Lebanese, Yemenis, and countless others. I am grateful to President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken for their unwavering and continuing support for Israel, commitment to achieving this hostage release, and to peace.”
