Ansari Announces Committee Assignments for 119th Congress

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) announced she will serve on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Natural Resources for the 119th Congress. She released the following statement:

“I am beyond humbled to join these two critical committees,” said Rep. Ansari. “These committee assignments will allow me to fight for transparency and accountability while championing bold, sustainable policies that protect our natural resources, address the climate crisis, and improve the lives of Arizonans.”

The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform ensures the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies, and is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House.

The House Natural Resources Committee, known as HNRC, oversees energy policy, mineral lands and mining, fisheries and wildlife, public lands, oceans, Native American policy, irrigation, and reclamation.

“I take these roles exceedingly seriously,” continued Ansari. “The House Oversight Committee will have direct jurisdictional authority over the Trump Administration’s actions, nominees, agencies, and the harmful policies we are sure to see come down the pipeline. And House Natural Resources will have a say in policies that directly affect Big Oil and the energy industry as these companies work to dismantle the climate work we’ve pushed across the finish line in the last four years.”
