PHOENIX – Today, Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) visited the Pendergast Early Learning Center, part of the Greater Phoenix Urban League Head Start program, to tour the facility, meet with staff and parents, and read with the students. Her visit comes as President Trump’s proposed freeze on federal funding threatens the future of Head Start programs that rely on federal funding to provide early childhood education to Arizona kids.
“Pendergast Early Learning Center is essential to so many children and families across the Valley,” said Rep. Ansari.“President Trump’s threats of freezing federal funds could effectively grind their work to a halt, leaving hundreds of kids unable to attend preschool and educators without pay. I’m fighting to stop that possibility at every turn.”
“Education is the great equalizer - and our strongest tool in nurturing the next generation of leaders,” continued Ansari.“In Congress, I will continue to fight for Head Start funding for kids and educators in Phoenix and across the country.”
