WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) announced she would donate her Congressional salary proportionate to the days the government is shut down. Ansari’s salary will go to Wesley Community and Health Centers, a community health center in Arizona’s Third Congressional District.
“Every day of the Republican shutdown means Americans furloughed without pay, uncertainty for low-income families and seniors, and community health centers like Wesley on the chopping block,” said Ansari. “Between Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and Republicans refusing to extend ACA tax credits in this funding stalemate, Wesley is at risk of closing its doors for good. We’re fighting with everything we have and standing strong in the face of Republican-driven healthcare cuts. In the meantime, I’m donating my salary to those who can put it to good use in these uncertain times.”
