WASHINGTON – Today, on the 14th anniversary of the Tucson, Arizona shooting that severely injured former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) issued the following statement:
"As an Arizonan, January 8 is a day that weighs heavy on my mind. But, in the face of darkness, Gabby and the Tucson community have always responded with incredible courage. Now, Gabby continues to be a beacon of hope in the fight to end gun violence. As I begin my work in Congress to protect our communities and prevent gun violence, I strive to do so with Gabby’s light, and to carry the memory of those Arizonans lost in my heart."
The attack on Congresswoman Giffords’ ‘Congress on Your Corner’ event claimed six lives and injured over a dozen others.
